As we sipped champagne on our super-king-sized bed, deciding whether to take a long soak in our palatial bath or an invigorating rain-shower, we laughed at the thought that this Milanese urban-sanctuary was once a convent – its 15th century nuns would roll in their graves if they knew their home is being enjoyed the way it is today! But they couldn’t have imagined that Milan would, in five centuries, become one of the most chic cities in the world – hosting Italy’s fashion elite and all that it entails. Right in the Quadrilatero d’Oro, the pumping heart of the city’s fashion and style district, this example of the Four Season’s dedication to perfection is now celebrating over twenty years in business. But, like every good fashion label, this hotel knows how to stay in vogue – with a recently installed duplex spa, designed by no other than Patricia Urquiola. We found the whole experience understatedly luxurious, as some of Milan’s grandest properties can lean towards vulgar excess. Should you want to splash some cash, a drive out to the countryside in a Ferrari features among the hotel’s favourite experiences – well, we suppose if you’ve got it, you might as well flaunt it.
