Editorial Intern
Travel paid and daily lunch allowance
Flexible, but committed 3 months placement, minimum 3 days per week

Are you a budding journalist/writer, already run your own blog and looking for more experience in this crazy world of publishing? We’re looking for someone to shadow our award-winning editorial team.

We are looking for someone with a passion for writing, who is looking to get some insight into the world or taking their first steps into their career in publishing to work with our team on OutThere magazine..

Typical activities will include:

  • Supporting the team in all activities leading to the publication of our printed magazines and online editorial
  • Research of trends, editorial topics and ideas
  • Work closely with the Editorial Assistant to assist them in their daily work
  • Managing incoming/outgoing samples from PRs
  • General administration, office organisation and office manager duties
  • Managing post and couriers
  • Using computers for word processing, desktop publishing and email
  • Dealing with phone and email queries

As your expertise develops, the role may involve:

  • Contributing to the magazine’s online content
  • Copy checking and updating written material
  • Writing your own material for publication

You will be ideally be a recent Journalism graduate or student, but we will consider candidates that have recognised vocational qualifications in journalism, media studies, English or marketing/public relations.

Art Intern
East London, UK

Flexible, but committed 3 months placement, minimum 3 days per week

Are you a talented designer and want to refine your skills and build your portfolio alongside an award-winning Creative Director and art team?

We are looking for someone with a passion for publishing, who is looking to get some insight into the world or taking their first steps into their career in printed and digital magazines to join our team, working on the Art desk.

On a day to day basis, you will perform a range of creative tasks in supporting the team.

Typical activities will include:

  • Hands-on design and layout both for print and digital
  • Preparing artwork for print and digital uploading
  • Supporting the team in all activities leading to the publication of our printed magazines and online design and editorial
  • Research of art direction, design and digital trends and ideas
  • Work closely with the Editorial Assistant in managing the production of photoshoots
  • Picture research and management
  • General Art-team administration, filing and archiving
  • Using computers for design, digital and video production (we request a full knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator – as well as a basic knowledge of Flash, iMovie, Premiere)
  • Dealing with phone and email queries

You will be ideally be a recent Design graduate or student, but we will consider candidates that have recognised vocational qualifications in graphic design, web design, typesetting, videography and illustration.

All applications should be accompanied by examples of relevant work, in particular layout work using InDesign involving typesetting and images.


Social Media and Digital Intern
East London, UK

Flexible, but ideally 2-3 months summer placement, minimum 3 days per week

Are you addicted to Instragram? Have a Facebook fetish? Does watching and responding to Tweets set your world on fire?

We are looking for someone who loves social media and all things digital and looking to get some insight and experience in digital marketing for an avant garde publishing brand.

You’ll be joining our small team in Hackney, East London and provide ongoing assistance to the Editorial Team and gaining hands-on experience in all aspects of our digital offering on OutThere.travel

On a day to day basis, you will perform a range of digital, editorial and administrative tasks in supporting the team.

Typical activities will include:

  • Supporting the team in all activities on social media and related to our website
  • Research of trends, editorial topics and ideas that will increase engagement of our content
  • Work closely with the Editorial Assistant to assist them in their daily work
  • General administration, office organisation and office manager duties
  • Managing post and couriers
  • Using computers for word processing, desktop publishing and email
  • Dealing with phone and email queries
