Design Hotels x SPG:
Original experiences

Last night, the collection of beautiful, design-inspired luxury hotels, Design Hotels announced their collaboration with Starwood Preferred Guest and their Original Experiences platform here in London. This unique partnership will enable travellers to experience much more across the Design Hotels portfolio while being recognised and rewarded with SPG benefits, unique to the collaboration – therefore creating memorable experiences for each individual guest to take away much more from their stay.

The idea is that memories are what endures over time, beyond a stay – the moments that moved your soul or altered your mind. Having stayed at many Design Hotel properties over the years, I can relate – from gazing up and first setting eyes at the watermelon shaped Hotel Unique in Sao Paulo, to descending the epic spiral staircase at the Nobis Hotel in beautiful Stockholm (on the site of the bank robbery that spurred the term “Stockholm Syndrome”), to an Austin Powers-esque boys weekend away with my best friend at the Seaside Palm Beach in Maspalomas, to discovering a whole new side of Hong Kong at the Ovolo Southside with my partner, while recovering from an epic tattoo session, to sublime R&R at the Alila Villas Soori in Bali, to laughing myself silly in an alien-like ridiculous ‘relaxation chair’ at the spa of the Mandala in Berlin. Check out our Basecamp section of tried and tested properties to find out more about our time at each hotel.

The true value of travel, you see, is to be found in unique, meaningful moments – and this is the spirit encapsulated by this Design Hotel’s and SPG collaboration, so that like me, guests will return home with memories that last a lifetime.

So far, only a selection of hotels is part of the programme, with more to come online in the very near future.
