The #Experientialist is thrilled to report the news he received today that Sri Lanka will welcome tourist back to the ‘Teardrop Isle’ from the 1st August 2020. The OutThere team visited the island at the end of last year for our recent Seductive Sri Lanka Issue, so you’ll have all the inspiration you need to plan your travels to the beautiful, island nation – so subscribe or download already!
All nationalities and travellers are welcome, with Bandaranaike International airport, Colombo Ratmalana Airport and Mattala Rajapaksa Hambantota Airport all open for tourist arrivals from that date. All travellers will require a valid visa that can be acquired online and a minimum 5-night stay is required, with proof of health and travel insurance. Travellers will be required to show a negative COVID-PCR test certificate valid no older than 72 hours prior to boarding and also on arrival. A further, complimentary PCR test will also be done on arrival, with the plan being able to deliver a result within 6 hours. Travellers who stay more than 10 days will require a third test during their stay.
The country’s fabled tourists sites will also be open from 1st August with safety measures in place, but transport between districts must be private and made with a certified travel agent. The island has been proactive in its safety measures over the last 3 months and has not had any active community clusters of the virus and no cases in the last 30 days.
