Far-flung resorts are – or at least should be – fundamentally about romance. The best of them are extravagant and sexy, offering the perfect balance of privacy and service. The Pavilions, an all-villa property in breathtaking Bali, gets the balance absolutely right.
The Pavilions Bali is less of a hotel and more a series of exquisite villas arranged around a central pool, each one hidden from the rest by a tropical garden that evokes a hedge maze (though without the confusion). The combination of serenity, escapism and faultless service is perfect, leaving you to focus entirely on the romance.
Our villa was spacious and stylish with a private pool, a garden and a kitchen. Not that we ever cooked, of course – food was served by the pool. Guests can also opt for one of the hotel’s four signature dining experiences. We plumped for the most sumptuous, the ‘Heaven on Earth’ menu. Arriving back at our villa, we found the pool strewn with lotus petals, like a sea of tropical flowers in the moonlight. A candle-lit dining table awaited us, where we were served a six-course menu that included grilled Flores lobster, pan-seared mahi mahi and Australian beef tenderloin. If this was heaven on earth, we’d found it.
The Pavilions Bali also offers a curated package for honeymooners, taking in UNESCO World Heritage sites, hiking trails and traditional dining experiences, all led by your very own butler. It’s the perfect way to ensure you experience the very best of everything the Island of the Gods has to offer.
Then again, you might, like us, want to keep it simple and take the short walk to the beach to lie under the stars.
Right on time
While you’re Out There
If you aren’t honeymooning or feeling vaguely romantic in any way, the Pavilions Bali also offer an ‘Out of Office’ curated journey designed to help you unplug from the rat-race, starting with acclimatising dining and spa therapies and cultural immersion of this otherworldly island. They guarantee that you’ll return home truly refreshed and ready for the trials of the ‘real’ world.
