The Alila portfolio is awe-inspiring, to say the least, but their collection of Alila Villas in Bali – Soori, Uluwatu and Soori Estate, takes luxury to another level.
From the moment we laid eyes on the Soori, we knew we had arrived to serenity, exclusivity and privacy, with just the sound of crashing waves in the background. Our contemporary sea villa had a private dipping pool, terrace and our own plot of beach. Architecturally, it didn’t immediately feel very Balinese; we had expected a bit more local flavour. That said, it was luxuriously appointed, with touches of Balinese art and photography – although the large picture of a ritual was somewhat menacing.
We felt immediately welcomed by the team – our personal butler was on point, always in the wings if we needed her, but letting us feel as if we had the place to ourselves. To top it all off, we found strategically placed his-and-his toiletries throughout the villa, they went beyond the call of duty to understand our personal needs. The Alilas also offer some awe-inspiring ‘journeys’, personal tours that helped us truly experience the island – something not to be missed.
