You’ll find Barcelona’s glitterati and international celebrities alike at this stylish hotel, part of the Design Hotels collection. Apart from its fabulous rooms (to our surprise, we found the Junior Suite to be a bit more comfortable than the Suite) and designer communal areas you can add your own twist to the mandatory siesta at the glorious SPACIOMM spa, a truly zen, Osaka inspired well-being centre.

The manager couldn’t tell us what the signature treatment was, probably because she herself was spoilt for choice. And once your soul is back in equilibrium, you can don your glad rags and join the in-crowd for late evening drinks and a Michelin star dinner at MOO (remembering that the locals don’t usually sit down to dinner until at least 10pm), crafted by Chef Felip Llufriu with ingredients picked from the hotel’s own organic garden.

You’ll mingle with Barcelona’s fashionistas as they swan through the doors to sip cocktails and cava in the hotel’s grand lounge or on the roof bar with a direct view of Gaudi’s Casa Mila rooftop. The hotel itself opened 7 years ago, so in part it is showing signs of age and aesthetic wear and tear, but that doesn’t take away from the experience that its designers set-out to deliver.
