The Greenwich, NYC

The Greenwich, NYC, USA

In downtown NYC sits the grown-up goddaughter of New York pedigree, Robert De Niro. But ‘she’ is talented in her own right, with her 88 truly unique rooms putting on a performance fit for an Oscar. Like a versatile actress, she works her audience with her accents – Moroccan, Spanish, and Japanese to name just a few.

What I loved most about The Greenwich was how much I felt at home here. I was taken by its informal charm, spending hours making-up stories about each piece of décor, as if I myself had been to some far-flung land and had brought it home with me.

The rooms are spacious, some with views of the Hudson. If size matters then you’ve got to stay in one of the hotel’s duplex suites, a NYC loft-living dream.

However, no stay here is complete without a visit to Shibui, the hotel’s five-star spa. Modelled on a Japanese farmhouse constructed in bamboo, featuring an original roof over two centuries old, this is as Zen as it gets. Add to that a temptress of a heated indoor pool, lit by paper lanterns, and enticing mystical Eastern treatments, and the Shibui is a memorable urban spa that’ll soon be your worst kept secret.
