Like the rest of the jet-set, we have a real love affair with Tuscany. One of its jewels is the once-playground of Italian film director Luchino Visconti, his ideal slice of Tuscan countryside. At the heart of its 4,200 acres, we found the tenth century castle that gives this all-suite property its name. As if this wasn’t grandiose enough, the views, inside and out, not to mention the stories told, made us gasp out loud. The refurbishment of this historical site went into nine figures and took over six years, with every aesthetic detail scrutinised by the Italian heritage-police, the Belle Arti. Rumour has it that the property was painted an excruitiating three times over, because they couldn’t get the right shade of yellow to appease the powers that be – something our Creative Director will appreciate! Needless to say, it drips with luxury on every level, but with a real nod to the past – beyond just its physicality, going into its activities and food, with wild boar hunted and cooked on the grounds. And as if it all wasn’t magical enough, the Castello di Casole is a proud member of Preferred Pride, the gay-welcoming collection within Preferred Hotels and Resorts’ portfolio of luxury properties.
