ME Sitges Terramar
Sitges, Spain

It’s no secret that many OutThere travellers have a natural love affair with Sitges in Spain. Easily the chicest hotel in this welcoming, seaside enclave, the ME Sitges Terramar is a luxuriously bold, cosmopolitan hotel, right on the Catalan coast.

Sitges has long been an OutThere playground. Known by some as the St. Tropez of Spain, it’s no surprise that its reputation for fabulousness (and long history as a truly welcoming, LGBTQ+ destination) would attract discerning travellers – especially those from the queer community – year-in, year-out.

Its history as a bohemian, ‘anything-goes’ escape goes back to the 19th century when it became the hip enclave of artists, writers and intellectuals. This cultural glitterati was inspired by what was then a small, sleepy fishing village by the sea and it grew quickly to become a thriving hotbed of Catalan modernism.

After an extensive renovation of the old Hotel Terramar, the ME Sitges Terramar, part of the ME by Meliá family, has become the go-to for holidaymakers seeking a luxury lifestyle and ultra-personalised service in Sitges, not to mention the brand’s signature blend of hedonism and escapism.

While you’re Out There
The historic old town of Sitges has become a rather chic destination. But it hasn’t lost its arty, quirky side too… fans of fantasy and horror movies may like to visit during its internationally famous Sitges Film Festival that celebrates the genres.

But because of its yachting marinas and the high standard of living, it attracts an upscale, metrosexual crowd all year round and escapee Barcelonians at the weekends. If you want to rub shoulders with them, head to San Sebastian Beach. It is known in Southern European circles as one of the best – if not the best – urban beaches on the continent, so you can only imagine the posing there. Luckily, we love people-watching!

It boasts 213 rooms, playfully and contemporarily designed with clean lines, neutral tones, and pops of vibrant colour that capture the playful spirit of Sitges. Our beachside apartment-esque suite featured bespoke furnishings and curated art that reflected the resort town’s storied bohemian flair. Our private terrace extended our living space to the sunny outdoors, perfect for watching the sun set over the Mediterranean.

But if the hotel is the cake, then there is icing! As if the property is not a draw enough, the food and beverage outlets are out of this world. The hotel’s multiple dining experiences are led by Grupo B, run by celebrity gastronomers Bilbao Berría and Beso Beach, who are known to combine the culinary charms of the Basque Country with powerful lifestyle components. Jet-setting foodies will know of Beso Beach from successful restaurants in Formentera, Bilbao and Barcelona in Spain, and Tulum in Mexico.

The theme at Beso Sitges and Beso Beach Club was ‘stunning Mediterranean fusion cuisine with a Basque nuance’ encouraging seasoned diners and beach bums alike to enjoy unexpected encounters. Breakfast is also served here and we enjoyed long, lingering mornings on the restaurant’s 1,200 sqm / 13,000 sqft outdoor terraceThe philosophy plays perfectly into the hotel’s personality.

Of course, like other ME properties across the world, there’s also a buzzy, Radio Rooftop bar.
