After a slightly botched check-in, on account of a late outgoing guest, we were escorted to our corner suite, where a cold bottle of Moet sat on ice waiting for our arrival – a nice touch to start again with a clean slate – as our escort pushed a button to open the automatic blinds revealing the wrap-around windows and a simply awe-inspiring view. Our suite was newly renovated, part of the contemporary update to this stalwart, convention property – taking its cues from the Park Hyatt brand it seems. Marble, wood and tanned leather accents dominated, and to top it all off – an opulent bathroom. The club lounge on the 30th floor was among the best we’ve ever experienced, with stunning views it offered an escape from the hoi polloi. We predict that, pending completion of the renovations at the end of 2015, the hotel will be once again a firm contender in the competative luxury hotel landscape of Hong Kong.
