Hugh MacDermott is often called Argentina’s gay gaucho, having spent many years traversing the country by horse. Together with his husband, he runs an adventure tour company, MacDermott’s Argentina.
Eat
The Butterfly is probably the best restaurant in Bariloche. Its large windows look out across Nahuel Huapi Lake. It only has seven tables though, so book ahead.
Art
El Casco is one of the few large hotels in Bariloche and it is like a huge art gallery featuring over three hundred paintings and sculptures by Argentine artists.
Float
A private boat trip on the Nahuel Huapi, possibly visiting Victoria Island, is a top recommendation. If you are staying at a lakeside hotel, you can be picked up or dropped off directly from or at the hotel’s pier.
