It’s very much a first world problem, but sometimes flying commercial – even in the most luxurious of cabins with the most celebrious of carriers – can be rather turbulent; and we’re not talking about the journey itself. Before getting on the plane, the priority lanes and lounges can be hectic these days, as can be your arrival.
Earlier this year on our way to and from the opening of the Belmond Cap Juluca in Anguilla, we discovered a service that provides a more relaxing and warmer welcome to your vacation (plus it also reduces coming home blues). Signature Elite Class is the world’s number one provider of VIP airside transfer services, has made your comfort their top goal. Usually reserved for those flying private and VVIPs, the company has expanded its services to those travelling commercial that want to do away with the hassles of being processed through the mainstream terminal.
Think of it as a private jet experience on a commercial flight; including a speedy check-in and passport control at a designated, stylish, private Signature lounge, a selection of pre-flight delicatessen muchies, and your own chauffeured limo to whizz you to the door of the aircraft head of state-style. On arrival, you’re picked up in the same way and your luggage delivered to you while you decompress from your flight.
We’re fans and have grown somewhat accustomed to their exceptional service, so much in fact, that we were tempted to pop a bottle of champagne upon hearing of Signature’s most recent news of expansion, with many more destinations where we can use the service.
Complementing London’s Gatwick and Luton Airports, along with an outpost at Antigua’s V.C. Bird International (sun loungers from the moment you arrive), Elite Class is about to touch down in three further destinations in the Caribbean – Barbados, Grenada and the British Virgin Islands – before arriving in St. Lucia and Jamaica in 2020.
