What comes to our mind when we think about New York City? Fifth Avenue – check. Empire State Building – check. If location is everything, then the Langham Place has a head start. Right at the heart of midtown, in a towering 57-storey building is a hotel that oozes pure luxury.
Part of the Hong Kong owned brand synonymous with exquisite hospitality, this New York property fuses urbanity and sophistication, with an eye trained firmly on attention to detail and superb service. Our one bedroom suite was sprawling with way too many doors and amenities for us hotel-hounds to open or investigate – so we took comfort in knowing that this property has left no stone unturned when it came to our, well, comfort.
The icing on the cake? The Empire State Building, just beyond our window panes, in full view – albeit through dirty glass that killed the magic a little, but you can’t clean the exterior of a 57-storey building every day! When dusk settled, the view came into its own as the ESB lit up for us in rainbow colours. We already loved this hotel, but now it’s a definite entry into the Basecamp Hall of Fame. Our hot tip is dinner at Ai Fiori, fine-dining, Mediterranean style.
