We’re not great at celebrity spotting, but at the iconic Four Seasons Los Angeles at Beverley Hills, we couldn’t help but see them – we quickly learned that this in fact is a hotspot for it. If you aren’t one yourself, then this place will make you feel like one – its secluded, hedged-off location, marbled lobby, fabulous garden and overindulgent flower arrangements are all perfectly poised for a chic, international crowd and its staff clearly ready and trained to cater to the whims of a high-maintenance clientele, with military precision and execution. Beyond the elevators, our suite looked a little tired – in our humble opinion, the property as a whole could do with a bit of an update (and putting a small TV by the sink doesn’t really count) – but there are those who tell us that its charm is in part due to the fact that it hasn’t changed much since the heyday of Hollywood. What you’re buying by staying here is a slice of what it means to be a tinsel-town Angelino, summed up by spending some time poolside – the perfect place to top-up a much needed L.A. credential – our tans; while listening in to a handsome young actor practising his lines, or a set of larger-than- life Hollywood producers at work.
